Communities of practice on scientometric topics have been established in various countries. Here is an overview:

Bibliometrics and Research Impact Community of Practice

The Canadian Community of Practice was established in 2023. It is supported by university libraries and offers, among other things, regular meetings and workshops, a reading group on bibliometric literature, a major annual conference, and an email mailing list.

Swiss Year of Scientometrics (SYoS)

The "Swiss Year of Scientometrics" is a thematic event series, sponsored by the ETH Zurich Library in collaboration with swissuniversities, dedicated to the responsible use of scientometric methods. Regularly invited lectures are held, commented on a blog, and subsequently made available online.

LIS-Bibliometrics

The LIS-Bibliometrics Community is primarily comprised of British bibliometrics practitioners from the academic world. The community operates the popular blog "The Bibliomagician" and a mailing list, publishes standards and best-practice guidelines on responsible metrics, and organizes an annual conference. As a community of practice in applied bibliometrics, the group is a pioneer.

INORMS Research Evaluation Group

NORMS, the "International Network of Research Management Societies", connects professional societies and associations of research managers worldwide. The Research Evaluation Group, a working group within INORMS, provides practical tools (e.g., the SCOPE framework) for research evaluation, trains decision-makers, and offers formats for exchange and continuing education.

Research Evaluation and Analytics Capacity Hub (REACH)

REACH is a new US-based community led by research managers. It focuses on advancing research analytics, the use of data-driven decision-making and artificial intelligence, and responsible research assessment practices.
